Let us help you connect with nature

Join the Parks Research Lab!

PRL is recruiting W&M student interns and researchers for the 2020-21 school year! Applications for Spring 2020 will be taken on a rolling basis until Jan 1, 2020. Apply at this link.

Become a Campus Park Rx Park Ambassador

Are you a student at William & Mary who wants to help fellow students find restorative local outdoor spaces to enjoy? You can be trained as a Campus Park Rx Peer Park Ambassador during a 1-hour session during which you will learn more about the program, train to use our signature park database, and sign up for campus tabling events during the school year. The total time commitment is 5+ hours a semester. Contact us to set up a training.

Campus Tree Tours

Have you heard that William & Mary is an "arboreal landmark, boasting noteworthy tree specimens from across the world"? If you would like to learn more about the hundreds of varieties of trees and shrubs on campus-- including two majestic dawn redwoods, two geographically-misplaced windmill palm trees (maintained by underground steam tunnels), and a magical white mulberry-- check out the PRL campus tree tour on the Campus Greenspace Map and App, or follow our events on facebook to attend a scheduled tour, guided by a PRL team member (suspended for Fall 2020).

Also check out the Campus Tour of Woody Species, created by the W&M Biology department.

ISC Greenhouse tour

The Biology Department's magnificent 4,000-square foot greenhouse is located on the roof of the Integrated Science Center, on the third floor (accessible from ISC 1). The greenhouse houses student and faculty research projects, plants that are grown by staff and students to use in in courses, and a conservatory collection which provides examples of a variety of pantropical species. Group tours can be arranged. Call 757-221-1819 for more information. The primary contact is Patricia White-Jackson, Greenhouse Manager. Greenhouse Director is Associate Professor of Biology Martha Case.

Forthcoming Resources

Document your bird sightings on and around campus and win a prize! Posters will be available in Spring 2021.
